Bristol Hammerhand: Geology, Vulcanology
Bristol is a gray-bearded dwarf who seems serious and thoughtful to humans, but
is considered quite a party animal by his own people. (He likes to tell bad
jokes.) He is quite learned in a variety of subjects, being one who values
knowledge for its own sake, and those seeking his expertise may find that the
most difficult aspect of dealing with Bristol is keeping him to the subject at
hand. Though Bristol knows a great deal about geology and mineralogy, his
speciality is volcanoes. He surely one of the few dwarves alive to have witnessed
an eruption and lived to tell the tale.
Cym: Music, Demi-Human Culture & Lore
Cym is a cheerful halfling of indeterminate age who owns and runs a small music
shop that caters to the small of stature. In addition, he can provide a wealth of
information about the culture, legends and songs of the halfling, dwarven,
gnomish and even the elven communities, if you care for such things. Cym generally charges a small fee (or, to pleasant
customers, a free meal.)
Dannigan: Enchanted Weaponry Lore
Dannigan is a younger dwarf, with dark brown hair only starting to gray and keen
blue eyes. His bearing is vastly different depending on the customer: to
warriors and priests of Azkal he is pleasant and helpful. He dislikes mages and
especially bards and, for reasons Dannigan will not explain, he is always rude to
women. (This doesn´t mean he won´t take their coin, if they can put up
with him.)
Dannigan sells a variety of weapons, and can provide information on the nature
and history of a magical weapon for a small fee. (He charges more for examining
dangerous weapons). He can often identify the nature of a magical blade after a
brief examination.
Galios Qwynn: Heraldry, Politics, Signs, Sigils, Runes
Galios is a rakish man in his mid thirties, with dark skin, long black hair
pulled back in a pony tail and dark eyes. He dresses in comfortable, white linen
shirts with flowing sleeves, tight black pants, and elaborately embroidered vests
(some say that Galios was raised by pirates, but he denies this.) He is shrewd,
intelligent, and witty, and he enjoys chatting with his customers almost as much
as he enjoys the challenge of a new and unusual symbol or sign to decipher.
Galios is well trained in the history of various symbols and runes, and can read
many ancient languages.
Myrzanis: Monsters, Expert on the Fiends
Myrzanis is a tall, fair-skinned man with blond hair curling to his shoulders and
light blue eyes. He is said to be over eighty years old, though he doesn´t
look a
day over forty. He always dresses in black and silver, but the style of his dress
varies from ornate robes to simple tunic and trousers, depending on his mood. His
origins are obscure, and he never discusses his past or his private life with
customers. Myrzanis is a man of many moods: he can be irritable and difficult
one day, and pleasant the next. If in a good mood, he will provide information to
his customers for reasonable fees; some days he will even chat amiably for hours,
and polite guests will find it difficult to leave. Even on his best days,
however, Myrzanis seldom tolerates those who lack intelligence and/or wisdom.
Torial Zepher: Musical Instruments, Sound
Torial is a middle-aged genius who has devoted his life to the crafting of the
perfect instrument. His quest began when he took his infant daughter to the
temple of Torodin during the Festival of Estereal for the traditional fortune
telling, and was told that she would become the finest musician Hurva had ever
known. Torial decided that his daughter´s gifts must have an instrument
worthy of
her talent, and has spent the past thirteen years researching the nature of
sound, and the crafting of musical instruments. A by-product of his research is
the justifiably famous Zepher´s Winds: a shop selling the finest
instruments in
Hurva (to Torial they are merely cast-offs that are not quite good enough for his
daughter Saranie, who is in fact turning out to be quite talented.)
Joergen: Physics: Thermodynamics
Joergen is a dwarf of undetermined age. He seems to live in his vast laboratory,
where he conducts various experiments in his lab, which is near an active
volcano. (He is constantly hiring hapless adventurers to collect samples.) Most
of his experiments seem to involve setting things on fire, or studying the
effects of lava, heat and cold on various metals and other materials. With
funding from the Hurvan army, he is working to develop armor that is effective in
extremes of heat and cold.
Joriel Del Forge: Engineering
Joriel is a tall, kindly gnome in his middle years, considered handsome despite
his baldness; perhaps it is his kind brown eyes, or his frequent smiles that
people are drawn to. Whatever the reason, Joriel is well liked by the numerous
noblemen and other wealthy customers who come to him asking for everything from
windmills to machines to churn butter. Joriel uses these more ordinary requests
to fund his research into his life-long ambition of creating a mundane means for
humans to fly. (Picture Leonardo´s workshop). He is currently working on a
strange contraption called a hot air balloon. Joriel has many friends among the
gnomish & dwarven communities, who often help out in his workshop.
